Asaram trust’s media advisor in line of fire

Chief Minster Parkash Singh Badal on Monday condemned the comments of Neelam Dubey,media advisor of the Asaram trust,in which she had made “highly objectionable and hurtful” references to Sikh history,specially Sikh gurus.

In a statement here,Badal said that these comments had hurt the religious sentiments of the entire Sikh community and of millions of others who held the gurus in the highest spiritual esteem. Badal said that nobody should do or say anything that can endanger the communal harmony and demanded immediate withdrawal of these comments.

He said that no one should be allowed to make “ill-advised statements on sensitive religious issues without verifying historical facts”.

Earlier on Saturday,the c(DSGMC) had filed a complaint with the Parliament Street police station in New Delhi against Dubey for promoting enmity religious ground,making imputation,assertions which is prejudicial

to national integration and for outraging the religious feeling by insulting the religious belief.

The complaint has been filed on behalf of the organisation by Ajmer Singh,Chief Administrator of the committee. Manjit Singh,president of the DSGMC also condemned the statements made by Dubey. “These remarks have been made deliberately — in order to promote feelings of hatred among the Sikh community.”

He further said: “During the debate,spokesperson of Asaram Bapu has compared him with the first guru of Sikh religion. The channel should have stopped airing the debate and should have issued an apology statement immediately.” “The Delhi Police has registered an FIR under Section 153A,295A and 298 of IPC on the basis of the complaint made by DSGMC,” said Rakesh Malhotra,the committee’s advocate.

BJP holds dharna supporting Asaram

Leaders and workers,including women,of Sangh Parivar organisations and other bodies allied to the BJP participated in a dharna in support of controversial godman Asaram Bapu,who has been booked in a rape case,outside the District Administrative Complex (DAC) in Jalandhar on Monday. They claimed that anti-national and anti-religious forces were targeting Asaram Bapu. Among those present were former BJP SC Morcha general secretary Sheetal Angural,Punjab Gau Sewa Board Chairman and senior BJP leader Kimti Bhagat,Punjab BJP cultural cell convener K L Sharma. Meanwhile,North American Punjabi Association,taking a very serious note of Neelam Dubey’s remarks,demanded her immediate arrest for hurting the religious sentiments of the Sikhs.
