Church pastor detained for ‘illegal conversion’ of school kids

A pastor in the city has been detained by police for allegedly indulging in illegal conversions of school children.

A pastor in the city has been detained by police for allegedly indulging in illegal conversions of school children.

Victor Babu,the 31-year-old pastor of Hebron Church was detained on a specific complaint by a man and also after a large number of residents in the locality staged a protest,demanding action against him for his act,police said.

Tension gripped the locality following the protest,they said.

Police said he has been charged under Section 295A (Deliberate and malicious acts,intended to outrage religious feelings or any class by insulting its religion or religious beliefs) of the Indian Penal Code.

They said the pastor,under the guise of organising a summer camp for school children,was allegedly preaching verses of the Bible to 32 children attending the camp.
