Centre ‘alive’ to possible biological,chemical strikes

The Centre said it is ‘alive’ to the possibility of biological and chemical attacks by terrorists and has taken steps to effectively respond to any such situation.

The Centre today said it is “alive” to the possibility of biological and chemical attacks by terrorists and has taken steps to effectively respond to any such situation.

In a written reply to a question on whether the government has paid attention to the possibility of biological and chemical attacks,Minister of State for Home Sri Prakash Jaiswal said,“The government is alive to the possibility of biological and chemical attacks by terrorists.”

Giving details of government’s preparedness to tackle any such crises or disasters,he said,“Standard Operating Procedures have been formulated. In addition,the National Disaster Management Authority has also issued guidelines for management of such disasters.

“Four batallions of the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) have also been specifically trained to deal with such crises and their locations are so dispersed so as to enable quick movement to the sites of any disaster/crises.”
