CBI examines Maran in telephone exchange case

Former Telecom minister Dayanidhi Maran was examined by CBI officers at the agency’s headquarters in New Delhi on Wednesday in connection with the probe into an illegal telephone exchange that was allegedly being run at his residence in Chennai.

According to sources, Maran arrived at the CBI headquarters around 11 am, and was examined by officers of the CBI’s Special Task Force (STF) till late evening, and his statement recorded. He will be examined again on Thursday, CBI sources confirmed.

According to the CBI, Maran has been examined in the case on two occasions in the past — in January and October last year, while his brother Kalanithi has been examined in September 2014. The CBI had registered the case on July 23, 2013 against Maran and others.
