MNS-Sena-BJP capture ward panels in Nashik

Nashik:MNS,which rules in Nashik Municipal Corporation,has captured three out of the six ‘prabhag samitis’ (ward committees),elections to which were held on April 8 and 9. MNS and its ally BJP had a tie-up with Shiv Sena before the polls. The alliance captured all six committees. The victorious candidates are MNS’s Lata Tilay (Panchavati),Arvind Shelke (CIDCO) and Vandana Shewale (Nashik East); Sena’s Sunita Kothule (Nashik Road) and Vilas Shinde (Satpur); and BJP’s Dr Rahul Aher (Nashik West). In the House of 122,MNS has 40 corporators,NCP 20,Sena 19,Congress 15,BJP 14,Independents six,RPI three,CPM three and Janrajya two.

Agriculture officer held for taking bribe

Yavatmal:An agriculture officer was caught accepting a bribe of Rs 3,500 from a farmer,ACB sources said Wednesday.

Surendra Digambarrao Dhole,the agriculture officer of Arni Panchayat Samiti,had asked Silwan Arun Shivankar of Kelzar village to pay Rs 10,000 for an irrigation well under a government scheme. Shivakar had paid him Rs 1,000,but Dhole insisted on the rest,too,ACB said.
