MNS says no support to NCP in council by-polls

Mumbai: The NCP candidate Dhananjay Munde on Wednesday met MNS chief Raj Thackeray seeking support for the by-elections for state legislature council. However,Thackeray turned down the request. He said,“MNS has decided to remain neutral in the council polls.” The lone council seat elections are scheduled on September 2. The BJP has backed Independent candidate Prithviraj Sambhaji Kakade. Although Congress-NCP are ahead in numbers,Dhananjay wants to secure his seat.

Senior railway official attacked

NAGPUR: Senior commercial manager with the Central Railway here Sumant Deulkar was attacked by a luggage parcel porter (LPP) with a sharp weapon,causing injuries. The incident occurred around 10.45 am in Deulkar’s chamber. The officer suffered severe head injuries and has been admitted to the Railway Hospital. Doctors said he was out of danger. The attacker,Pankaj Wasnik,has been arrested. Police Inspector R V Bansod said the motive of the attack was not known yet as Wasnik was not cooperating in the investigation.

2 held with fake currency,arms

NAGPUR: Two persons were arrested with Rs 1.85 lakh in fake currency on Wednesday. Salman Khan Haroon Khan and Farooq Khan Haroon Khan were allegedly found carrying several arms,including a country-made revolver,too. The police suspect the two could be part of a big fake currency racket.
