Ahead of the municipal elections, the BJP on Tuesday came out with a dossier listing 40 cases of alleged corruption against the Delhi government.

The dossier was launched by party president Nitin Gadkari, along with municipal polls in-charge Venkaiah Naidu.

“Congress is the root cause of corruption and inflation in the country, and Delhi government is facilitating the scams. Delhi Lokayukta has indicted Delhi Chief Minister for misdirecting poor voters. Like Congress did to us in Karnataka — asking our CM to resign on Lokayukta’s report — we demand Sheila Dikshit’s resignation,” said Gadkari.

The dossier listed issues like CWG,2G,coal scam,Hassan Ali’s money laundering,Defence land scam, corruption in purchase of Air India aircraft,LIC residential loan scam against the Union government. Against the Delhi government,it highlighted issues like provisional certificates to unauthorised colonies, electricity scam, group housing society scam and Tuglakabad land scam.

To drive home the point,Gadkari quoted the agencies investigating the allegations against the government and their conclusion of indictment.

“The BJP does not need to talk about the CWG irregularities. The PM-appointed Shunglu Committee and CAG have reported about them. The Shunglu report clearly said tax payers’ money was wasted due to wrong policies of the Delhi government,” Gadkari said.

He stated that the Games-related files were cleared by the PMO,the Finance Minister, the Sports Minister, the Expenditure Finance Committee and the Cabinet Sub-Committee.

The booklet did not touch upon any municipality-related issues, but Naidu said the dossier will be the talking point when BJP candidates go for public meetings.

Meanwhile, rejecting the allegations of graft,Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit: “He (Gadkari) is raising national issues for municipal polls. Why is the party not talking about its performance in MCD in the last five years?” Dikshit asked when questioned about the dossier.

She said “it is very strange” that a “national leader” like Gadkari is showing keen interest in municipal polls.

“They failed to deliver basic services to the citizens. They have nothing to talk about (with respect to) their performance. That is why they are raising national issues,” she said.

The Delhi Congress chief J P Agarwal also hit out at the BJP for raising house tax, toll tax and parking charges in the past five years, thereby “burdening” people.

And Minister Arvinder Singh Lovely claimed that the Delhi Transport Corporation had to withdraw its low-floor buses from roads laid by the MCD as they were bad.
