A 25-year-old supervisor of a popular South Indian restaurant chain has been arrested by the Bangalore police for allegedly taking videos of women in the restroom of his restaurant.
The accused, Mahadeva Swamy, a resident of south-east Bangalore and native of Chamarajanagar district, allegedly concealed a camera phone in the women’s restroom at Adyar Ananda Bhavan’s Mico Layout branch on Ring Road.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (south-east division) Rohini Katoch Sepat said a woman found the phone in the bathroom and gave it to her husband, who approached the police.
The police say the complainant, a garment factory owner, had come to the restaurant on Sunday evening when his wife found a box with the mobile phone in the bathroom. She took it to her husband, who deleted the videos.
The businessman then approached the local police station and filed a complaint against the supervisor. Investigation revealed that the handset belonged to Madesha. It has been seized for further investigation.
“We have registered a case of molestation against the accused person and arrested him. He was produced before the court, which has remanded him to judicial custody,” an investigating officer said.
