Day after Bathinda MP Harsimrat Kaur Badal challenged AICC vice-president Rahul Gandhi to contest from her constituency,Punjab Congress president Partap Singh Bajwa on Monday asked Kaur to contest from Amethi — Rahul’s constituency.

“Let the whole Badal family try use their strength and see the results. She is slipping in her own constituency and this is forcing her to give such statements,” Bajwa said in Doda.

“They (SAD) would not be able to win even a single seat from Delhi or Haryana. In the Delhi Gurudwara Management Committee (DGMC) elections, they had purchased each vote for Rs 5,000 and had fought the polls with a force of 3,000 policemen. It will not happen again, anarchy will not be allowed to prevail again and again,” he added.

On Congress-Sanjha Morcha alliance,Bajwa said: “The state Congress has given its feedback to the high command. We are in favour of an alliance with secular minded parties. Our seat adjustment in rural polls had worked well. Rest will be decided by the high command.”

Asked whether the party was going slow on the alliance,he added: “Everything will happen at its correct time. Let the appropriate time come and the people will be able to see the results for themselves.”

Claiming that his mass contact programme was to see the party’s strength and weaknesses in the wake of the upcoming Lok Sabha elections,Bajwa said: “Akalis have made life tough for masses in Punjab. In 2017,with God’s grace,Congress will be in power and we will give all those a befitting reply who are lodging false cases against our leaders.”
