The Assam Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) has sought the intervention of President Pranab Mukherjee and demanded either restraining Governor P B Acharya from making political comments or relieving him of the additional charge that he is holding in Assam. Governor Acharya, however, was not available for comments.

“Governor P B Acharya has been making too many political statements in the recent days and politicising the governor’s office.

The governor is supposed to act on the advise of the council of ministers. But he is not doing so,” APCC vice-president and former minister Ripun Bora said here on Monday.
