An assistant Sub-Inspector was killed and four police personnel injured,two of them critically,when their car met with an accident on Sohna Road on Monday evening.
According to police,the Tavera they were travelling in turned turtle after ramming into a divider while they were returning to Nuh headquarters in Mewat district. They had come to Gurgaon on official work,police said. ASI Inder Singh (38) died,while head constable Ramcharan,constables Kamal,Gopal and Lakhan were admitted to hospital with injuries.
The incident took place near Dhunela village on Gurgaon-Sohna Road around 4 pm on Monday. The police personnel had come to Bhondsi jail from Nuh last Wednesday on official work.
All personnel were with the escort guard,police said. They had brought three prisoners to be produced in a city court. The party left for Nuh after dropping the prisoners at Bhondsi jail.
According to police,when they reached near the village,a car coming from Raisina,scraped the side of the Tavera. The Tavera driver lost control of the vehicle and it collided with the divider. All five policemen were taken to Sohna civil hospital,where Inder Singh was declared dead on arrival. Police sources said the Tavera was travelling at a high speed when the accident happened.
The police personnel belonged to Mewat district and were returning to Nuh. Among the injured,two are in a critical condition and have been admitted to the Medanta Medicity Hospital, said DCP (South) Hamid Akhtar.
Police also said that a case had been registered against the driver of the other vehicle which had scraped against the Tavera causing it to lose control. The driver,however,fled the spot as soon as the accident took place.
