The Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) on Tuesday reacted sharply to UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhis statements that the Himachal Pradesh government has not used Central funds and said the Congress has started playing the same card, that had failed miserably in the Punjab polls, for the HP Assembly elections.
In a statement released from the party head office here,SAD Secretary and spokesperson Daljit Singh Cheema said that from the tone and tenor of Sonia Gandhis speeches, it has become abundantly clear that the Congress wanted to beat all Opposition-ruled states with the same stick.
Accusing the of Congress of launching a misinformation campaign,Cheema said that if the Central government schemes are failing in states, then the Centre should bear the blame and not the states.
He further said that various chief ministers of different states have advocated the need to ensure that the Union government schemes are state specific, but in spite of all this, the Congress-led UPA government has been going ahead with ill-planned and misfit schemes only for vested and political considerations. The SAD hopes that the Congress partys allegations in Himachal Pradesh will be rejected by the people of the hill state as happened in the Punjab Assembly elections.
