Amid increasing reports of local youth joining militancy in the Valley, National Security Advisor Ajit Doval arrived in Kashmir on a two-day visit on Tuesday.
During his stay in Kashmir, Doval will meet several top officials handling the state security. Soon after his arrival in the city, he had a detailed meeting with Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed. According to the officials, several issues related to security came up for discussion during the meeting.
He also met Governor N N Vohra at Raj Bhawan.
Sources said Doval would also meet some top Army commanders and would discuss the situation along the Line of Control, especially in North Kashmir where seven to eight infiltration bids were reportedly foiled by the Army.
Sources said Doval’s visit would focus on the issue of fresh recruitment of Kashmiri youth, especially in South Kashmir where 32 youths were reported to have joined the ranks of militants.
Security agencies raised an alarm after some of the new recruits shared their pictures and videos on social networking sites.
