Ahead of meet,Registrar writes to BCCI on HPCA status

The letter comes exactly four days before a BCCI meeting on September 29 for which HPCA president Anurag Thakur, who is also BCCI joint secretary, has been invited.

A day after Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh announced that his government will not allow any cricket match at the Dharamsala stadium till the HPCA issue is sorted out, Registrar R D Nazeen today wrote to the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) informing it about the impending action to take over the cricket body. The letter comes exactly four days before a BCCI meeting on September 29 for which HPCA president Anurag Thakur, who is also BCCI joint secretary, has been invited.

In his letter to the BCCI,Nazeen has said that he had invoked powers under Section 41 of the HP Societies (registration) Act,after detecting serious violations by the Anurag Thakur-led cricket body. “The HPCA,under a show cause notice on September 7,has been restrained to pass any order or resolution,or make any expenditure or banking transactions concerning its affairs without written approval of the Additional Deputy Commissioner Kangra,” he has written in the two-page letter.

Nazneen has told the BCCI that the purpose of sending the communication was to point out the true facts about the state of affairs with regard to HPCA as it was claiming to be the duly authorised body to attend the September 29 BCCI meeting.

The registrar has also mentioned that BCCI would be informed of more facts as investigations were still under way. “There is substantial interest of the state government in proper functioning of HPCA as the association has been given public largesse in the form of land and other facilities, being a Registered Society under the Act,constituted for the purpose of development of cricket in most transparent manner,” he has written.
