Following the arrest of Lashker-e-Toiba operative Abdul Karim Tunda by the Delhi Police on Saturday, the Government Railway Police (GRP) in Jalandhar is again taking a look into a 16-year-old blast case, which was closed owing to the death of the main accused.
On March 15,1997,a bomb blast outside the Jalandhar railway station had led to death of seven people, including a homeguard jawan. Ten others had sustained serious injuries.
According to sources, the GPR is now relocating the old files of the case. It plans to bring Tunda to Jalandhar on production warrant in case his name surfaces in this case.
When contacted,GRP SHO Jalandhar Bant Singh, who has joined duty recently in Jalandhar, said: I am looking into the details of this closed case. If we find Tunda has any connection with this case,we may bring him to Jalandhar on production warrant.
