With a bus service between Dhaka and Guwahati becoming a reality, Assam chief minister Tarun Gogoi on Saturday said it was time to look forward to the day when a road link between India and China through the Northeast would be opened.

Flagging off the Guwahati-Dhaka bus service from here simultaneously with Prime Minister Narendra Modi flagging off the Dhaka-Guwahati bus service in the Bangladesh capital, Gogoi also said the link to Dhaka would strengthen relationship between the countries.

“We look forward to opening up road links between the region and neighbours. The day is not far when we can hope to look forward to opening a road link to China,” Gogoi said.
