A 23-year-old national award-winning actress who was arrested from a hotel in Hyderabad Sunday night for alleged prostitution is said to have told police that she joined the trade as she was broke but wanted to maintain her lifestyle and to keep some association with the film industry.
This is the second time she has been arrested for being involved in a sex racket.
The actress has been sent to a government women’s rehabilitation home. Several businessmen who were in the suite of a hotel where a team of Banjara Hills police conducted a sting operation were also held.
Well-known in Tollywood for her role in Telugu movie Kotha Bangaru Lokam, which became a hit, the actress had earlier gained fame for her role in Hindi movie Makdee, for which she won the national award for best child actor. She came to the attention of many directors and producers of Telugu, Tamil and Bengali films for her role in Iqbal too.
