The newly-proposed Kisan TV — a dedicated agri-television channel announced Thursday by the Finance Minister in his Budget speech — will not be an extension of Doordarshan’s popular but archaic show Krishi Darshan. Instead, it will make an effort to give a peek into farmers’ lives in an interesting manner.
Union I&B Minister Prakash Javadekar Thursday said that his ministry, through the channel, will try to evoke interest among people who are not necessarily engaged in agriculture or related activities. “The channel will air content on how food goes through the processing and supply chain. It will also have shows on food and the health issues involved,” he said.
