Forty-two of the 44 people picked up from Oakwood Premier Hotel in Juhu on May 20 have tested positive for drugs, according to the second forensic report received by the Mumbai police on Friday. Those tested positive include Indian legspinner Rahul Sharma and South Africa’s Wayne Parnell, both of whom played for Pune Warriors. Sharma is now touring Sri Lanka as part of the Indian team. The two who tested negative in the second report are women.

In the first report,44 had tested positive. The first report did not include samples of Sharma and Parnell. The police had picked up 90 people in all,and so far four two boys (in the first report) and two girls (in the second report) have tested negative.

Of the 42 guests who tested positive in the second report,36 are women and six are men. The fact that all six men in the second report tested positive shows Sharma and Parnell have tested positive.

Briefing mediapersons,Vishwas Nangre Patil,Additional Commissioner of Police,(West region) said,”We had taken blood and urine samples of the remaining 44 people. Of these,38 were women and six were men who had tested positive of consumption.” When asked specifically about the cricketers,he said,”I cannot comment on this.”

The police had on May 20 raided the posh hotel and rounded up all these people, including foreigners, following specific inputs about the presence of drugs at the party. They were let off after their urine and blood samples were taken. “Of the 4,000 (music) tracks seized from the DJs at the party,95 per cent of the tracks were of trance music…played in rave parties,” said Nangre-Patil.
