In the view of low intensity blasts on J M Road a week before, cycle traders in the city have plans to form an association. Investigators have reportedly got major clues from the two cycle shops from where the suspects purchased three Hero bicycles a day before the blast.

A cycle trader said there was an association earlier, but it became ineffective for the last few years. Former president of this association,Baba Kulkarni of Kulkarni & Sons, one of the oldest cycle shops in the city, said,“We have discussed about forming the association of cycle traders in the city again. It has been revealed that terrorists purchased new bicycles from cycle shops in the city for planting explosives on J M Road. Apparently, police called a meeting of cycle shop owners to take precautionary measures like installing CCTV cameras and checking ID proof of customers. So,considering the situation,we feel the need of re-forming the association of cycle traders in the city. We have discussed the issue and are hoping to revive the association soon.”

A cycle shop owner said,“Cycle traders are helping investigators to the full extent. At the same time, all cycle shop owners should stay united to face such situations. Police have appealed to all cycle shops to install CCTV cameras. But,it is costly and so,not possible for the small cycle shops. Such issues can be taken up and dealt with properly by association.” Two suspects, reportedly speaking in Hindi and Gujrati, purchased three bicycles from Budhwar Peth-Kasba Peth area.
