The Haryana Police on Monday submitted before the Punjab and Haryana High Court the forensic report into the mysterious death of Dana Sangma, niece of Meghalaya Chief Minister Mukul Sangma. The Amity University also filed its response in the case.
The forensic report has been prepared by the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) in Madhuban.
The Haryana Police was replying to a PIL filed by the victims elder sister,Balsame M Sangma, who had demanded a CBI probe in the case.
According to the FSL report, the signatures and handwriting of the deceased on her answersheet and UMC form had matched when compared with the admission form.
The Haryana Police also submitted that investigation are on and evidence was being collected. It also claimed that the petitioner has not joined the police investigation as yet, despite the orders passed by the high court.
Meanwhile,in its reply, the Amity University has termed the death of Dana Sangma as a case of suicide and demanded the dismissal of the PIL. Denying allegations of abetment to suicide, the university has opposed the PIL.
In her petition,Balsame Sangma had requested the high court to transfer the investigation of the case from the Haryana Police to any independent agency. She had also urged the court to transfer the case out of Haryana.
Dana had died under mysterious circumstances at the Amity University on April 24. Following her death,a case on charges of abetment to suicide was registered by the police.
