The popular Tara Magic Show group, which is currently holding events here, today demanded entertainment tax exemption from Jammu and Kashmir government, saying that it is making an effort to bring people of the region “out of the turmoil of 20 years of militancy”.

“We seek exemption of entertainment tax as we came here purely to make people happy by this show of magic and to bring them out of the turmoil of 20 years of militancy,” Mangal Tara Show organiser Ajay Munjral said.

Munjral, father of noted Rajasthan-based magician Mangal Tara, said the state government initially did not talk about imposition of entertainment tax but after the group started its show, the tax was slapped on it.

He said,”We were planning to extend the show but due to huge entertainment tax we are thinking of curtailing the event and also thinking of not visiting JK again.”

Noted magician Deepak Munjral alias Mangal Tara is performing magic shows with his troupe here from January 7.
