Two youngsters riding a motor bike lost their lives after their bike got stuck in an open manhole at Sagharsh Nagar in Chandivali early on Wednesday morning.

The two — Jonathan (20) and Kunal Ulalkar (21) — collided with a JCB dumper parked nearby after they were flung off the bike. The BMC disaster management cell was not aware of the accident, while additional municipal commissiner Harshad Kale said the accident spot did not fall under their jurisdiction

However, officers from Saki Naka police said the victims were dead on their admission to Rajawadi Hospital in Ghatkopar. “The two were going to a restaurant in Jeevan Nagar when the bike got stuck in the open manhole. They were flung off the bike and hit a JCB dumper,” one of them said.
