Abandoned girl handed over to Ludhiana orphanage

A 25-day-old girl,who was found near a garbage dump in Tilak Nagar,Gidderbaha,was handed over by the district administration to an orphanage,SGB International Dham Salwandi Khurd,in Ludhiana on Tuesday.

A 25-day-old girl,who was found near a garbage dump in Tilak Nagar,Gidderbaha,was handed over by the district administration to an orphanage,SGB International Dham Salwandi Khurd,in Ludhiana on Tuesday. The abandoned child was first spotted by a retired hawaldaar,Hardial Singh,who runs an NGO,Rahat Foundation,in Gidderbaha,and he was taking care of the child for the past 15 days. DC Paramjit Singh said,“Hardial Singh will be honoured for this gesture on Republic Day. So far,we have not been able to trace the parents of the child. The girl,weighing 2 kg,was sent to an orphanage in Ludhiana”.

DC dismisses land revenue official

Mansa: Deputy Commissioner,Mansa,on Tuesday dismissed Satnam Singh,a patwari,after he failed to appear in the inquiries called by the SDMs of Sardulgarh and Budhlada. He had also failed to appear for a personal hearing before the DC. The patwari was charged with providing wrong land records to one Sukhpal Singh of village Mirpur and was called to present his version. The DC said that as per the report prepared by the SDMs,the patwari;s previous record showed that he had never obeyed the rules.

List of castrated sadhus submitted

Chandigarh: An applicant on Tuesday submitted a list of 62 persons who were allegedly castrated at the directions of Dera Sacha Sauda chief,Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh,to the Punjab and Haryana High Court. The list along with an application by one Ram Kumar Bishnoi was placed before the court during the resumed hearing of a petition. A similar case,wherein the High Court has issued notices to the Haryana government and Dera Sacha Sauda chief is is slated to come up for hearing on October 8.

Capt to tour all 117 constituencies by Nov

Chandigarh: State Congress chief Captain Amarinder Singh will tour all the 117 constituencies in September,October and November. “A wrong impression was being created in a section of press today that he will only be visiting seven constituencies represented by his loyalists. Nothing can be far from the truth than such observation,” a PPCC statement said on Tuesday. The tour,which begins from September 2 will start from Patti in Tarn Taran and conclude in November.
