Pakistan’s foreign ministry Wednesday called in Indian deputy high commissioner J P Singh to lodge a protest against India giving permission to only two of its diplomats to travel to Kolkata for watching a World T20 match. Pakistan government sources said, out of seven diplomats’ requests, the MEA cleared only two.

South Block Wednesday said Pakistan had not informed India of the itinerary for the travel, as required in bilateral practice. “…considering the occasion, 19 approvals were issued as a gesture… We have urged that agreed requirements are met so that the rest of the requests can be processed,” MEA spokesperson Vikas Swarup said.
