Lashing out at the Centre in the wake of the Pathankot terror strike, the Shiv Sena today said it had warned Prime Minister Narendra Modi not to trust Pakistan and that time has now come for him to focus on India rather than trying to unite the world.

The attack has proven that our borders are not safe, India’s internal security is in shambles and the only national work being done is giving condolences to the martyred on social networking sites, the Sena said in a hard-hitting editorial in party mouthpiece ‘Saamana’.

“Seven of our soldiers get martyred in return of a cup of tea with Nawaz Sharif…The incident has proven that our borders are not safe and our internal security is in shambles. With the lives of six terrorists, Pakistan has managed to finish India’s self-respect,” it said.

Further hitting out at the government, the ruling alliance partner said, “The Prime Minister was in Lahore only last week as a guest of his counterpart Nawaz Sharif. At that time, we had warned him not to trust Pakistan.”

“See how we have been betrayed today. If Pakistan wants to improve relations with India, they should immediately hand over Jaish-e-Mohammed’s Maulana Masood Azhar to India,” it said.

The Sena also said that had the Congress been in power today, there would have been demands to strike at Pakistan and avenge the deaths of soldiers, but now nothing is being done about the incident.

“The only national work being done is condoling the deaths of soldiers on (social networking site) Twitter. But why have these soldiers died? PM Modi is trying to unite the world, but time has now come for him to concentrate on India,” it said.

The Sena also said that if India does not avenge the Pathankot terror attack, then displaying its military and arms and ammunition strength on Republic Day would be futile.

Going by election analysis, no body besides pre 1970 born maharashtrians, or radicalised ones support you.. maharashtrians need a regional party but not like this not like you, your antics remind one of kejriwal taking on pm to seem important, i think you should worry about the modern maharashtrians that no longer fall for your age old strategy of politics of pride... Pls build our roads you had, bmc for ages.. yet roads are better called pot heavens. Mumbai is a swimming pool in the rains.. By saying that arent you giving smiles to stanis when someone who is an ally uses such statements to gain political mileage... You hurt your allies chances in bihar elections, this behaviour is only denting your image by showing you as a bad team player.. and the young maratha is only going to think which side are you on, holding your alliance partner on a ransom, like this and picking on your friends for political mileage.. Sincerely

When there is a leader democratically elected all forces need to support that leader. When Sena become PM it can do its own way and again everybody will need to support it. Obviously some politicians are illiterate about democratic responsibilities. Making comments here and there will only help the enemies.
