ALLEGING THAT the BJP government in Haryana was once again taking the state to the brink of “caste riots,” Indian National Lok Dal (INLD) leader Abhay Singh Chautala said the 103rd birth anniversary of former CM Devi Lal would be marked as ‘Sadhbhawna Samman Diwas’ at an event to be held at Karnal on September 25.

He said that the aim would be to unite people of all 36 castes in Haryana.

Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, former J&K Chief Minister Farooq Abdullah and SP president Shivpal Singh Yadav are expected to attend the event. Addressing a press conference Thursday, Chautala, who is the Leader of Opposition in Haryana Vidhan Sabha, said that during the agitation for Jat reservation in February this year, the state was “paralysed and seemed to be in a coma.”

“For four days, the Chief Minister did not bother about what was happening. More than 30 youths died. The social fabric of Haryana was damaged. Such a situation was created that we are worried even now that the state might burn,” he alleged.

Chautala added that even when the CM was giving assurance that reservation would be given to the Jats, his ministers were saying different things.

He said, “The same situation is present now in a case where two women were raped in Mewat and two persons killed. The CM said a CBI inquiry will be conducted. However, an MLA of his party said that those arrested are innocent. A caste angle is being given to the issue. It is a conspiracy. We demand that investigation in the case should be handed over to the CBI. There is no law and order left in Haryana”

Chautala said wherever the BJP is elected, they try to divide people on basis of caste. He said that BJP MP Rajkumar Saini has recently said that during the HCS recruitment, members of a community were benefited in the interview, which is not the case.

“The BJP is trying to accommodate RSS members at various posts. The 25 sushasan sahyogis that have been appointed are at the behest of RSS. The BJP does not even trust its own ministers and there is a member of the RSS overseeing each minister. Never before has any CM appointed ADCs, apart from several OSDs,” he said.
