Why do only SIMI men escape in MP: Opposition questions escape and encounter

Digvijaya Singh wondered whether it was a “coincidence” that in jailbreaks in Madhya Pradesh, “the only who have escaped are ex-SIMI people”.

The Congress, the Left parties and other Opposition parties have questioned the alleged escape by eight men accused of being SIMI activists from Bhopal prison and their killing in an encounter by Madhya Pradesh police. AICC general secretary Digvijaya Singh said it was curious that only SIMI activists escape from jails in Madhya Pradesh and demanded a judicial probe.

The Congress also referred to an alleged video of the encounter which has surfaced. Congress leader Manish Tewari told The Indian Express: “The purported video which has surfaced in the public space raises very disturbing questions as to whether the encounter was genuine or fake. It also raises the equally pertinent question with regard to the alleged jail break. Under those circumstances an inquiry by a sitting Supreme Court judge to establish the veracity of the events as they unfolded would be the only pathway to substantial justice.”

Digvijaya Singh wondered whether it was a “coincidence” that in jailbreaks in Madhya Pradesh, “the only who have escaped are ex-SIMI people”. In 2013, seven members of the SIMI had escaped from a jail in Khandwa [three of them were among those killed Monday]. “In both jailbreaks, it is only the accused from the SIMI (who have) escaped. Why not others? This is quite a coincidence,” Digvijaya said.

He demanded a judicial inquiry. He said it should also be probed whether they escaped or were made to escape as part of a plan. “The chief minister has ordered an inquiry by the NIA which has got a director who has got a second term of extension…so we don’t trust him. So we demand a judicial inquiry into this,” Digvijaya added. Asked whether he believes the episode was planned, he said “I wouldn’t be surprised.”

Asked why, he said “SIMI and Bajrang Dal and RSS are two faces of the same coin. I have always held them. One incites Muslims, the other incites Hindus.”

In Hyderabad, AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi said, “The Home Minister of Madhya Pradesh says that these undertrials were armed with spoons…. People run away from prison after assassinating a guard and they only have spoons. So, to any normal person, this theory is unbelievable.”

CPM general secretary Sitaram Yechury said, “There should be a proper judicial inquiry, not an inquiry by the NIA. How did the jail break take place? Because various questions are being raised. So let there be a judicial inquiry to ascertain the veracity.”

Senior CPI leader D Raja too demanded a high-level judicial probe. “It has raised several questions about security in jails. And even about the jail administration. It cannot happen just like that. They say there was an encounter. The question is whether those who had escaped from the jail were in possession of fire arms… All this raises very serious questions. And unless there is a high-level judicial probe, which should go into all these aspects… There will be questions. Whatever the BJP government in Madhya Pradesh is saying is not enough.”

He said the central government should ask the state government. “How did such a serious security breach take place and what led to such an incident?”

AAP’s Arvind Kejriwal raised the killings on Twitter: “This is very serious. We demand an SC monitored investigation.”

The time is ripe when the top level bureaucrats and other directly involved officers are taken to task for not doing their jobs diligently. The incidence of Pathankot intrusion in air force base, attack on brigade Hq at URI and many such incidents including the current jail break do raise , a question on the integrity of our own people who are responsible for the safety of this nation. One can see the standard of vigilance on the streets where the security personal are positioned and their alertness. In this country Sr. officers are always busy in pleasing their masters so that they get promotions and post retirement benefits.

Why the Congies question government why only SIMI escape from jail. They should ask their creation SIMI about it. Those who believe in law, will face it. Those who know how the law is going to deal with them will either accept or try to run away. This should be a new precedence in handling jailbreaks. Anyone who run away from jail will be killed.

The contention of y 0 ur argument is false as far as this article and instance is related. The team of officers who killed these guys in retaliation were anyway going to get post retirement benefits enled by their appointment. Y0 u mean to say that officers took orders from govt. directly to kill these culrpits, if needed? . . . . Even if this is the scenario, what wrong did the legislator do, if he has done so? what is these guys would have planned some big attack on crowd . . you would have again blamed govt. and legislator . . about security personnel positioned and their alertness . . . . yes y 0u are partly correct about streets, but it does to apply to jails ... and jails are not open streets. please avoid such r@n dom f @rts in c0m mnets.

you are correct that we are heavily relying on moral character of the legislator and as of now the power has not corrupted to an extent that they will grill any om men like y0u and me and encontr us . . . . but yes these guys deserved it. Dev faddu need to suck up to mns goons and he is soon to be paying price . . by the way. . if AWF rejected 5C, does it mean that kajo did not pay incur any loss?? . . less likely . .mns would want it through theater operators anyways . .

It seems Diggi feels to have become a widow as the Jail-breakers,killed in the encounter are non-Hindus.CPI,CPM are crying just because these people who have become Martyrs in their eyes have been killed in the encounter.Such great courageous people(who can break jail and kill a cop),worthy of Bharat Ratna according to Congress,JDU,CPM,CPI,and AAP have been killed in police encounter. These mentally converts have no sympathy for the cop, killed while performing his duties,as he was killed by their dear ones. What a fall is there my countrymen? The same nuisance-valued COMMUNAL lot go silent when majority community suffers such incidence.Majority community has to be alert to defend itself against such evil forces,ESPECIALLY DURING ELECTIONS.It is in the interest of Nation that people like Digvijay are not given importance by Media. They wept in the past for Batla-house terrorists, remaining ignorant about martyrdom of Mohanchand Sharma. If they are having so soft corner, their leaders should be ashamed of taking security cover from armed forces..

Those working against India and its interests are the SIMI activists, the government should not spend time or money explaining its position on terrorism to the opposition, The Muslims need to behave like humans if they want to get justice,

Dear Joseph, Choose between getting killed as unsuspecting innocents or Killing those misguided terrorists, before they strike. It is a case like Israt Jahan, for which so many minority sympathisers have spoken, but eventually what stood ?
