West Bengal: 500 fall ill after eating ‘stale’ food

More than 350 of them, including 25 children, had to be admitted to hospital.

Nearly 500 people fell ill Wednesday after consuming bhog served after a religious ceremony in Sashan area of Barasat in North-24 Parganas district. More than 350 of them, including 25 children, had to be admitted to hospital.
The bhog served late on Tuesday night had been prepared much in advance, officials said. State health minister Chandrima Bhattacharya visited the area Wednesday evening and assured all help from the government. An investigation has been initiated.
