Prime Minister Narendra Modi is addressing the nation on its 70th Independence Day from Red Fort in Delhi today. This is the third time PM Modi will be speaking from the ramparts of 17th century monument on the morning of Independence Day.
For his speech, PM Modi had earlier sought suggestions from people and a number of ideas came from the public. From the recent issues like atrocities on Dalits, cow vigilantism that concern the entire nation, several other suggestions came in. Thus,it can be expected that the PM will be covering a wide range of issue while delivering his speech today.
The security arrangement at Red Fort and surrounding areas are in place and an unprecedented ground-to-air security cover is provided this year. Similar to last two years, the security agencies had urged PM Modi to deliver his speech from behind a bulletproof glass citing growing threat of an attack on him from terror groups.
Apart from the celebrations at Red Fort on Monday, a seven day long cultural festival called ‘Bharat Parv’, that began on Friday, is also underway at Raj Path.
