Vyapam scam: CBI conducts searches at 5 premises

The searches were conducted in connection with the FIR registered at Jhansi Road Police Station, Gwalior. The case related to irregularities in the 2010 and 2011 pre-medical tests and during counseling.

In one of its major actions since taking over the probe in the Vypam scam, the CBI Friday conducted searches in five premises, including Chirayu Hospital and properties of its managing director and administrative officer.

In a release, the agency said that incriminating documents and material were recovered during the searches at the hospital’s premises in Bairagarh, and cash, jewellery and other valuables worth Rs two crore during searches at the residential of the MD and the administrative officer.

The searches were conducted in connection with the FIR registered at Jhansi Road Police Station, Gwalior. The case related to irregularities in the 2010 and 2011 pre-medical tests and during counseling. The beneficiary student got himself a government quota seat allotted in a medical college in Bhopal.

The student vacated his seat on the last day of admission after allegedly getting a huge amount of money to allow the college management to fill the seat in a non-transparent manner. As many as 47 of the 63 government quota seat allotted by the directorate of medical education were vacated on the last day to allow private colleges to fill the seats.
