Video: Mentally unstable man stabs person in Virar railway station

A video - which has now surfaced on the Internet - shows passengers panicking as the man, identified as Mahendra Pal, repeatedly stabs the victim seen lying in a pool of blood.

An unidentified man was allegedly stabbed to death at Virar station on Monday morning. The attacker – who police say appears to be unstable – is reportedly a railway porter.

The incident took place on the railway station’s footbridge that interconnects platforms.

A video – which has now surfaced on the Internet – shows passengers panicking as the man, identified as Mahendra Pal, repeatedly stabs the victim seen lying in a pool of blood. A policeman and a security guard were seen on the footbridge but appeared helpless as they had no weapon on them.

It was only later that a group of passengers and the police managed to overpower the attacker.

The police have taken Pal into custody and a murder case has been registered.
