In Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s ‘Mann Ki Baat’ radio programme on Sunday, a recently wed couple from Surat found special mention in his address as they served only tea at their wedding. “I used to talk about ‘Chai ka charcha’ during elections; never knew this will reach marriage halls,” he said, “A couple in Surat got married offering just tea.”

Speaking to news agency ANI, the bride, Raksha, expressed happiness that the Prime Minister acknowledged their struggle. “Jis chai pe Modi ji charcha karte hain usi chai pe humne shaadi karnne ka socha,” she told ANI. This has brought down her wedding expenses considerably as it amounted to just Rs 500. “We are very happy that our message reached PM Modiji,” she added.

PM Modi hailed all those who made sacrifices in support of the demonetisation move, announced earlier in November. The Prime Minister also invited everyone to take a pledge and become a part of a cashless economy. “I reiterate that I need your support; I am positive that you will help me in this; take a pledge that you’ll be a part of cashless economy,” PM Modi said.

Editors: 'Raksha's wedding costed her only Rs 500.' Costed is not word to be used in this connotation. The past tense and past participle of Cost is Cost itself. Costed is the past tense and past participle when Cost is used in reference to estimation or for determination of cost.

Misleading headline by evil IE editors. IN reality this couple in support of demonitisation, performed their wedding in JUST 500 rupees. But headline with evil intention says, this couple served only tea at their wedding. Editors are worst form of terrorists we have freely roaming in human societu workign for leftists and jihadi propoa. Hindus must wage war against enemies like this.

The Surat(Gujarat) couple have done a great service to the environment. My comment may look odd.

You would have loved it if they had instead criticized the PM, isn't it? Feel sorry for you about your disappointment ;)

Modi should have sent the army instead of corrupt IT officials to supervise Gali Janardhan Reddy's daughter and should have limited the wedding cost to Rs.500 instead of 500 crores

That's the best way to get married in Mandir and Mosque, by just offering tea and biscuits.

What a state of affairs. Common man has no money and therefore spends 500 rs. An ex BJP minister spends 95 cr for his daughter's wedding. Hypocrite says not a word about it.
