Six Nobel Laureates including Indian-born biochemist Venkatraman Ramakrishnan have confirmed their participation for the Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit 2017 that is scheduled to be held in January next year. The others who have confirmed their participation include Harold E Varmus, William E Moerner, Randy Schekman, Ada Yonath and David Gross for the “Nobel Media Exhibition” that is scheduled to be inaugurated at Gujarat Science City in Ahmedabad by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on January 9, 2017.
The event will also include a close-door interaction between PM Modi, the Nobel laureates, top scientists and select students. On January 10, these Noble Laureates will also be participating in a symposium that will deal with the subjects, “Innovation and Economic Growth” and “Innovation and its uses to spur societal benefits.” Both these events will be held before PM Modi inaugurates Vibrant Gujarat summit.
“We are privileged to host the first-ever Nobel Laureates Exhibition and Symposium at the upcoming edition of Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit. We are in touch with officials from Nobel Media as well as from the department of biotechnology, Government of India and are working together to ensure the event is a grand success. As of now, we have six confirmations and the number is likely to go up in the coming days. The Nobel Laureates Exhibition & Symposium will boost the morale of the youth of Gujarat and encourage them to think creatively for STEM,” Dhananjay Dwivedi, Secretary, Science and Technology stated in an official release here Saturday.
The Science City is being readied for the event. A separate exhibition area is being set up where the Nobel Media team will set up exhibits. Nobel media team will also depute mentors and guides to give a different experience to the visitors for the Nobel Exhibition.
