Parliamentary Affairs Minister Venkaiah Naidu Tuesday expressed disappointment over missing an “important appointment” after an Air India flight was reportedly delayed for more than 30 minutes.

In a series of tweets, the union minister said he arrived at the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport in Hyderabad for an afternoon flight, 45 minutes before its departure.

However, Air India flight AI544 was delayed as the pilot was yet to arrive. Naidu waited for another 30 minutes before returning home since boarding still hasn’t begun.

Naidu demanded an explanation from the government-run flight carrier, saying “transparency and accountability are the need of the hour”.

“Hope Air India understands that we are in the age of competition. Missed an important appointment,” he said.
