Varun Gandhi escapes unhurt after stage collapses during BJP function in UP

BJP MP Varun Gandhi Sunday escaped unhurt after a makeshift stage, overcrowded with his supporters, collapsed at a party function here.

Gandhi, who was on his way to interact with farmers in Chhajlet, had made a brief halt at Peeli Kothi Chowk on the Moradabad-Haridwar Highway, where local MP Sarvesh Kumar had organised a welcome ceremony.

The Sultanpur MP, who turned 36 Sunday, was sharing the dais with Kumar and Moradabad Mayor Veena Agarwal when the incident occurred.

Moradabad ASP Yashvir Singh said no one was injured in the incident, adding that no FIR has been registered.

    It is good no one was injured. Next time the organisers should ensure some quality control for such makeshift arrangements. Such stages have of late been collapsing with clock like regularity. Ironically the BJPs ideology is also on unsteady ground. Dividing people, spreading falsehood. Having superior race complex / pride. If you build a house based on lies it will collapse like a house of cards.
