With elections in Uttar Pradesh round the corner, the central government Tuesday accorded a VIP security cover of central paramilitary commandos to BJP MP from Moradabad, Kunwar Sarvesh Kumar Singh. Officials said a threat assessment survey of the five-time MLA’s security was recently conducted by central security agencies following which the Union Home Ministry sanctioned a security cover for him.
They said Singh has been brought under the ‘X’ category of VIP protection and the task has been entrusted to the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) which will deploy about 5-6 armed commandos with the Member of Parliament. The commandos will guard the MP round-the-clock every time he is in his Parliamentary constituency and anywhere in UP.
The CISF protects over 60 VIPs and has a special commando unit to render these tasks. RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat and National Security Advisor (NSA) Ajit Doval are prominent VIPs under security cover of the CISF, tasked primarily for the security of major civil airports and vital installations in the country. Assembly elections are expected to be held in UP in February-March next year along with other states of Punjab, Goa, Uttarakhand and Manipur.
