UP: 8 dead after jeep falls into river in Ghazipur

The deceased included a snake bite victim who was being taken to a temple.

Eight persons, including three women, were killed when a jeep in which they were travelling fell into Mangai river near Gazia village in Nonhara area in the district, police said Monday.

The incident occurred late Sunday night when the jeep’s driver lost control over the wheel and the vehicle fell into the river killing Baijnath Bind (60), Mansha Devi (32), Tetra Devi (45), Sharda Devi (55), Sukhari Devi (18) on the spot.

Jitenra Bind (15), Pinki (15) and Ramrajia Devi (55) died in the hospital during treatment later, they said.
