The Union Ministry of Water Resources has called a meeting of chief ministers of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana on September 21 to discuss the sharing of Krishna water in the wake of the July 20 order of the Supreme Court on the issue.

Minister Uma Bharati will hold the meeting with Telangana CM K Chandrasekhar Rao, Andhra Pradesh CM N Chandrababu Naidu, the chief secretaries of the two states and other officials in New Delhi.

The meeting was called apparently to prevent escalation of tension between the two states over the sharing of water from the Krishna, especially after the flare-up between Karnataka and Tamil Nadu over sharing of Cauvery water.
