Two women throw acid at Bareilly bride

Following the wedding, the victim was admitted to hospital.

Two women allegedly threw acid at a bride on Friday night, just before her wedding at Yugveena guest house in Cantonment area of Bareilly district. According to police, the 24-year-old woman suffered serious injuries on her face. Both families went ahead with the wedding after the victim was administered first aid. Following the wedding, the victim was admitted to hospital.

Anjana was getting ready for the ceremony when the attack took place. Her grandmother was with her, while all other family members were receiving the baraat. Two girls, claiming to be from the groom’s side, entered the room and wished to see the bride. As soon as they were close enough, they allegedly threw acid at her.

“The girl suffered burns on her face, up to 30 per cent,” said Sameer Saurabh, SP City, Bareilly. Police said the two accused managed to flee but they were examining CCTV footage to identify them.
