Three members of a family, including two women, and two policemen guarding them were gunned down by eight persons in Gangnauli village under Doghat police station area in UP’s Baghpat district Monday. An old enmity was stated to be the reason behind the murders. No arrests have been made so far.
According to police, around eight armed assailants barged into the house of Mangeram (65) and fired indiscriminately killing the elderly man along with his daughter Savita (45) and grand-daughter Preeti. PAC jawan Rakesh Kumar and police constable Vijay Kumar Singh too died in the firing while another constable Pratap Singh sustained injuries and has been admitted to a hospital in Meerut.
SHO Doghat police station informed that the incident was a fallout of the family’s rivalry with that of gangster Pramod Gangnauli. In 2013, Pramod had allegedly killed Savita’s son Parikshit over some momentary issue.
“We have launched a massive manhunt to nab the attackers,” said Baghpat SP Poonam.
