Prime Minister Narendra Modi stressed on the government’s flagship ‘Make in India’ programme as a key aspect of the continuing cooperation with Britain. He was speaking on the sidelines of the India-UK Tech Summit, attended by British PM Theresa May in Delhi.
The Prime Minister said that UK can benefit from India’s liberal FDI policy in areas like defence, manufacturing and aerospace and that the bilateral trade between the two countries has remained the same for the last five years. PM Modi also thanked his British counterpart for choosing India as her first bilateral visit outside Europe.
In her speech, PM May outlined the potential of the UK-India relationship and said Indian investment is diversifying the British economy.
