The Caravan in association with The Indian Express will host a day-long event, The Bridge, to facilitate conversations on some of the most pressing issues faced by women in India today. The event will feature eminent speakers, including political leaders, entrepreneurs, academicians, filmmakers and activists, who will ideate, debate and curate on of how gender empowerment is essential for the transformation of economies, quality of lives and ultimately countries, as well as move towards identifying roadblocks and solutions. It is aimed at challenging the conventional thinking surrounding gender empowerment, and in turn addressing the gap between theory and implementation.
Some of the most brilliant minds in India will be speaking on these issues. The speakers include Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje, Union Cabinet Minister for Women & Child Development Maneka Gandhi, senior Congress leader Mani Shankar Aiyar and Bollywood filmmaker Farah Khan, to name a few. These conversations will be a starting point to a more sustained engagement on the topics at hand and over time we hope to both document and follow-up on the ideas that come out these talks by involving more and more stakeholders.
The event will also see performances from Ginni Mahi, the Dalit voice from Punjab who is making waves in the pop scene, and internet star Mallika Dua. On October 8, the event will begin from 9.45 am onwards at The Imperial, New Delhi. For more information visit http://www.thebridge.media/program.
