An agent with Regional Transport Office (RTO) here has been arrested for allegedly taking bribe from a car buyer for getting his vehicle registered, the ACB said on Tuesday. Two others – a sales team leader and sales manager of the car show room – have also been booked in connection with the matter, Thane Anti-Corruption Bureau’s Deputy Superintendent of Police Khanaiya Thorat said in a press release on Tuesday.

He said Satnamsingh Balwantsingh Kalsi (38) had demanded Rs 13,000 for registration of the new vehicle purchased by the complainant – a Naval officer.
The aggrieved officer lodged a complaint with the Thane unit of the ACB which laid a trap and arrested the agent while he was accepting part of the bribe money of Rs 9,000 from the complainant last evening, the release said.
The investigation and the complaint indicated involvement of the car showroom’s sales team leader, who has been detained, and also the sales manager, who was away and action would be taken against him too, the ACB said.
Offence under relevant sections of the Prevention of Corruption Act have been registered against the accused with the local police station, it added.
