On a day Rajya Sabha saw another washout, Opposition members protested the introduction of the Taxation Laws (2nd Amendment) Bill as a money bill in Lok Sabha.

Naresh Agrawal (SP) accused the government of undermining Rajya Sabha, which cannot make amendments to a money bill passed by Lok Sabha. He demanded a committee be set up to sort out differences over what qualifies as a money bill and what doesn’t. This was supported by Congress MPs Jairam Ramesh and Rajiv Shukla.

Deputy Chairman P J Kurien said the the Constitution is very clear on the issue raised. He then asked him to give a notice for setting up a committee. He took up a discussion on demonetisation following which agitating members forced adjournment for the day.
