BSP supremo Mayawati lashed out at former party member Swami Prasad Maurya on Wednesday saying he didn’t rise above nepotism and has done a favour by quitting the party.

Addressing a press conference on Wednesday, Mayawati said the party was happy that Maurya left, otherwise they would have asked him to leave.

Swami Prasad Maurya on Wednesday turned rebel to party chief Mayawati and resigned from post of party’s national general secretary. Maurya has accused Mayawati of selling party tickets in 2014 Lok Sabha elections and upcoming Assembly polls too.

He has also leveled allegations against Mayawati saying she has destroyed Kanshi Ram’s ideology. “Mayawati has insulted Kanshi Ram and Ambedkar. With her actions Mayawati is killing BSP and strengthening BJP,” Maurya said.

He said that he was feeling suffocated as BSP national general secretary and Mayawati had forced her to not attend programmes of his community.

Maurya is leader of Opposition in state Assembly and his resignation from party post has given a set back to BSP poll preparations because he was a major backward castes face of the party.
