In the wake of cross-LoC surgical strike by Indian army, Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti Thursday voiced grave concern over the escalation of situation along the borders and warned that confrontation could lead to a “disaster of epic proportions” for the state.

Calling for restraint and de-escalation of the “war-like situation”, she said India and Pakistan must open the channels of communication realizing the dangerous consequences of any escalation of ongoing confrontation along the borders. The people of Jammu and Kashmir have the greatest stakes in peace as they have undergone enormous tragedies because of the blood-spattered violence in the state, she said while commenting on the surgical strike.

“We in J&K have suffered immensely because of the violence and know very well its dangers and consequences,” Mehbooba said.

“For the people of Jammu and Kashmir, peace along the borders and within the mainland is of immense significance and I hope the political leadership of the two countries would also treat it with the same spirit,” she said.

The Chief Minister said, “like siblings locked in an endless rivalry, India and Pakistan have bickered for well over six decades and transforming that rivalry into a mature, productive relationship will be difficult. But the consequences of continued animosity will be much worse.”

The necessity of dialogue has assumed more significance in the post-nuclear phase, she said while maintaining that war is never an option to resolve issues and India and Pakistan should instead together fight poverty and economic deprivation plaguing the region.

Unfortunately, terrorism in India is an indirect creation due to indecisive, spineless and appeasing strategies of the politicians of hi and Nehru dynasties. These families have nothing but ruined our country ever since independence. In 1945, after WW-II Germany's GDP was a 10th of India's. While their politicians built their country, ours sold India. Then Governor of JandK in 1989 Jagmohan wanted to nip this problem at the bud, but his did not want terrorism to go away and called him to centre...rest is history!

Is this the Chief Minister of an Indian State speaking or a stani. It is very clear from her pain at the loss of lives in stan!!!! All of them are the same. It is for the same lady's family benefit that India exchanged terrorist to stan!! A female with no graude. Let us not try for any reconciliation any more. Either our terms or no terms.. Well done Modi ji and Indian Army. What Nehru's children and G children and his mistresses's children could not achieve, This Govt. achieved in one stroke.

Repected Mr. Modi, being a resident of the state of JandK and to deliver utter respite and to resolve the problems of the state, can we not take this wretched woman out in another surgical strike along with her brethren Abdullahs. These dynasties are the root cause of JandKs problems. A Gangrene to the state and our nation.

Playing on both sides of the border is Mehbooba, just like Mamta plays with India and Bangla Desh.
