Criticising those doubting the cross-LoC surgical strikes, Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar on Monday said the action by the Indian army has increased the sensitivity among Indians regarding national security in a very effective way. He said the Indian army is the world’s best and when it says something, it should be believed. “From the day of the strike till today, some politicians are seeking proof,” Parrikar said without taking any names.

“When Indian Army says something we should believe it. It (Army) is world’s best, professional, brave and having a very high integrity. I do not feel that anybody will seek proof from them (Army) here in Ahmedabad,” he added at a function here of Nirma University, called ‘Know my Army’.

Parrikar was referring to some sections which have been asking for proof about the surgical strikes. The army has said the strikes against terror launch pads across the LoC was carried out during the intervening night of September 28-29.

“Two good things have happened after the surgical strikes. First thing is (that) except some politicians, every Indian is rising in unison and standing behind our brave soldiers. And the second thing is we (Indians) have acquired sensitivity regarding national security in a very effective way,” he said.

With regard to the ceasefire violations by Pakistan, the Defence Minister said the Indian Army was giving a befitting reply. “Violations are regularly taking place for the last five-six years. You can take out figures. But the only thing that has changed now is that we are giving effective reply,” he said.

To a question on security lapses, Parrikar said, “When you are doing things and if there are lapses in it, then mistakes should be rectified.”

Parrikar praised the university for organising such a programme and called upon youths to join the Army. Later, Parrikar while talking to reporters, said one thing is clear that his government is serious about national security.

On the illegal sneaking-in of people in Gujarat from border adjoining Pakistan, Parrikar said, “BSF is tightening security at the border. You also know that this is a difficult area where we cannot put up fences as it is a marshy area. But we will use technology and fill the gaps to ensure no unauthorised person enters our territory.”

Is he not( Parikkar) re-inventing the wheel called security? There was no security for Indians for seventy long years of Independence!.Is the BJP parivar deseperately seeking for consolation prizes? One can understand the new government's deep seated desire and longing for appreciation, applause and chamchagiri? The Parikkars and Sharmas and the MOS are seeking publicity and marketing for the NDA sarkar. There is no substance or depth in their claims and counter claims. One feels rather ashamed of this self-glorification and mad publicity stunt in the name of patriotism and right wing nationalism

Looks like donkeys praise their own tails- A typical characteristic of most Indian Politicians. These politicians should talk about the corruption, Inefficiencies and their records as ministers, chief ministers, MPs and MLA's and leave the achievements of the army alone. My opinion is that every government after 1962 were serious about national security otherwise we would not have Bangladesh today. India is what it is because of the hard work of its people- The only contribution made by Indian politicians was and is to drag and slow down its development- so that even today millions in India cannot afford two square meals a day
