Former Union Minister and Congress MP Shashi Tharoor was questioned by the Delhi Police on Saturday in relation to the death of his wife Sunanda Pushkar.

According to news agency ANI, Tharoor was questioned by Delhi Police officials for about five hours.

Speaking to reporters, Delhi Police Commissioner BS Bassi said: “He (Tharoor) was questioned, clarification was sought wherever required. We will analyse his (Shashi Tharoor) statements, and will proceed accordingly in the case.”

Last month, the final report by the AIIMS medical board stated that Pushkar died of poisoning caused by anxiety drug Alprax.

AIIMS experts also said that there could be chances of an injectable poison, in view of certain marks on Sunanda’s body.

The report – submitted to the Delhi Police in January – said the FBI had confirmed the presence of lidocaine (used to relieve itching, burning and pain due to skin inflammation) in her body.

The final report came after the Delhi Police received the viscera report in November 2015 from the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), where it was sent to determine the kind of poison that killed Pushkar after an AIIMS medical board identified poisoning as the cause for her death.

In the report, the AIIMS also concluded that there was a need for a Special Investigation team (SIT) to thoroughly investigate if any person in the vicinity and in access of insulin was present, since there were injection marks on her body.

Pushkar, 52, was found dead in a New Delhi hotel room on January 17, 2014.

In the final viscera report, the AIIMS board unanimously concluded that the death was due to poisoning. They ruled out death due to a combination of drugs.

The report reads: “The circumstantial recovery of empty Alprax Tablets (27 tablets) and report of the FBI, which shows the presence of Alprax in stomach and its contents, spleen, liver section, kidneys, blood sample, as well as wet clothing due to urination, bed cover and bed sheet, confirmed the death is due to excessive ingestion of Alprazolam tablet.”

The medical board report said: “The fatal dose of Alprax is completely variable from person to person, physical conditions and medical history/duration/dose of intake of Alprax exceeding the prescribed dose leads to poisoning.”

Delhi Police Commissioner BS Bassi had said necessary information on the case will be shared once the investigation is complete.

It is not really interrogation. In the name of interrogation modalities of extortion, transfer of Taroor's property to BJP account in Liechtenstein(handled by queen Sushma Swaraj), which THIEF Justice of India will handle the case, what Taroor should say in the court, how much the Italian queen B would be compromising on GST Bill and elections, etc. etc.

India has already paid enormous amounts to the American FBI in fees - which in any estimate would be in millions of dollars - because of the specialised nuclear testing - all with the aim of finding the former minister guilty. All of India knows that there was plenty of evidence that it was either suicide, or an attention-seeking attempt that went wrong. But by constant grilling the former minister, the police will not be able to go far. After all, the case has to be proven in court that it was anything other than a suicide. The uneducated leadership of the Central Government is wasting incredible amounts of taxpayer money. And the Central Government want to collect GST!!! To waste more of tax money on political vendetta?

How many times police quiz him and how long. he is seasoned politician he will not open up easily nor police can use harsh measures on him because of his stature. It is sheer waste of time. Police quiz is also like Xmas, once in a year. By the time the shrewd well connected man can destroy the evidence. Even if police by anyhow file a case court will blast the police for the shoddy investigation and let him free because of lack of evidence. If somebody else was in his place by now he would have been languishing in jail on the charge of killing.

unfortunately there has been no custodial interrogations and may be it is even too late to do so... chances of anyone being accused are really low unfortunately.
