Three months ago, Maan Singh knew nothing of the man who allegedly killed his wife. Then, about two months ago, Jitender, an auto driver, turned up at the couple’s home in Sarhaul. He allegedly threatened Singh, saying he would take his wife from him.
“We got into a scuffle and I eventually made him leave our house. Pinky then told me he had been stalking her for the last few months,” said Singh.
He said Devi first met Jitender when she took his auto home after work at around 11 pm. “She used to take the Metro from Rohini to MG Road, and then take an auto home. She had taken his auto a few times, and saved his number so she could contact him when she needed a ride,” Singh said.
He alleged Jitender then started stalking Devi. The couple never filed a police complaint because they felt it was “a small problem that could be internally resolved”.
